This is Our Family: Petal & her Dyna

By Jill Stonnell (Petal)

31/10/13 = 120,671 km on clock.

Growing up on a Dairy farm had me quickly graduating from Dirt bikes to road bikes and finally I got to purchase my first Harley-Davidson in 2004; a pre-loved Dyna Super Glide Sport, and so began the Love affair of all things HD. I come from a family of HD riders and I’ll never forget my brother saying “well Sis I hope you realise the bike is just the passport to the Accessories!!” OMG how true. When I purchased my beautiful cobalt blue Dyna Low Rider in early 2008 I was exposed to a whole new world of BLING for bikes!!

I was so excited with the new 96 cube motor and how smooth the bike ran, I picked it up from Morgan & Wacker on Friday arvo and had it back in the service dept. the next week for its first service – I just couldn’t get off it all weekend and rode from sunrise till sunset.

Within a few months we were off on our first adventure together – Inland to a HOG rally in Nurioopta SA, then round trip along the great ocean road and back along the coast of NSW to QLD. I didn’t want to come home, go back to work or get off that bike – all I wanted to do was keep riding!!!!!!!!

The purchase of a HD changed my life, as it has exposed me to the amazing experience of HOG & the passion it fuelled. The Comradeship formed through Brisbane HOG has seen me plan trips & ride some amazing roads, all over the globe, with Hoggie mates – From the dolomites in Italy to FAAK & European bike week in Austria to the Canadian Rockies and Northern USA to the mecca for Harley riders; STURGIS South Dakota.

Unfortunately I only get to ride on the weekends back here in OZ and have 120,671 kms on the clock as I write this. So many people say to me “Must be time for a new bike Petal” my response is “WHY – this one still goes like a rocket J”

I have ridden many different Harleys over the years but I’m a Dyna Girl and my next bike will be a Fatbob. 🙂
