Morgan & Wacker Harley-Davidson, who were established in 1917 are making history with their rejuvenation of the Brisbane landmark location at Newstead.
Being the oldest motorcycle dealership in the country, and the second oldest Harley-Davidson dealership in the World, Morgan & Wacker has some serious heritage behind their name.
The brand new showroom honours both the heritage of the company and the Harley-Davidson brand, while showcasing the latest and greatest on offer in a contemporary open plan design.
“We’ve been able to stay true to the long-standing roots of the company, while creating a modern retailing space that is inviting and impressive,” states Paul Lewis, Morgan & Wacker Harley-Davidson Dealer Principal.
“The fact is Harley-Davidson and Morgan & Wacker are both brands that value quality products and excellent customer experience and the new showroom is the ideal blend of those traits. We’ve been able to create a modern space while still honouring the past and are very excited to offer customers the chance to become a part of history by experiencing this transformation.”
The build has revealed timeless treasures of Morgan & Wacker’s past which have been unearthed and showcased.
The polished concrete floors are a throwback to the 1960s, when Morgan & Wacker first moved to the Newstead showroom from Elizabeth Street. You can even see the changes in wall positions and add-ons from years past; plus the area that was originally a boat ramp down into Breakfast Creek.
An original window that was uncovered during renovations now boasts a lifestyle image of a 1920s Harley-Davidson board racer: a window into the past. A timeline spanning ten decades celebrates Harley-Davidson history and is even framed with floorboards that were part of the original building. Authentic 100-year-old wood paneling has been used as a tribute to the Morgan & Wacker centennial in three years time.
